Interview
PCET Network: What do you enjoy most about teaching adult learners?
Beverly: I enjoy being able to converse with adult learners and enjoy the rich range of experiences they bring to a topic. Although I now mostly teach 16+, that too has its interesting moments!
PCET Network: How did you become an FE Tutor?
Beverly: I retrained to teach adults to find a career that fitted in better with having a family.
PCET Network: Do you have any good advice that you wish to share with other FE Tutors?
Beverly: Keep all resources that you come across you can never tell when you will need them. Also network with colleagues, shared experiences are a real lifesaver.
PCET Network: What would you say to someone that is thinking about becoming an FE Tutor?
Beverly: If you want flexibility in your life and a job that has visible rewards i.e., seeing someone take the skills you have imparted and go onto something more, then this is the job for you!
When Beverly is not training adult learners she enjoys gardening, walks, going to the cinema and eating out.
