Since I’m not actually teaching at the moment I was just thinking that sometimes we have good days in the classroom and sometimes we have very bad days. I don’t know if it’s because we have to work in front of a group of adults but it seems to me that sometimes I have very good sessions in class, most of the time it’s okay but sometimes I can have a really bad session. When I have a bad session it really stays with me and I beat myself up something terrible. I keep telling myself I’m much more capable than that particular session would allow and I must admit to brooding about it a bit. Sometimes my self confidence as a teacher/instructor etc actually suffers.
Anyone else feel the same or are you supremely confident all the time?
if you had great session every single time then you would be running the education system.
teachers have bad days just like the learners for many reasons
tiredness, stress, environmet, the learners could be winding you up, etc.
One good thing is because you are working with adult learners they are less likely to jump on the signs your not having a great day. Young learners would be all over you winding up more. Adult learners recognise your just a human like them and will let you have more slack for grotty days.
