What's the difference between a Session Plan and a Scheme of Work?
Does the latter effectively consist of a number of the former? |

Good Question.......I would love to take the credit for this answer , but I'd be lower than a snakes belly......! I know its wikipedia but its still a good statement...
'A scheme of work defines the structure and content for teachers in their subject. The document includes teaching and learning objectives and, depending upon the level of detail, may contain a full time-plan for each lesson.'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scheme_of_work
The session plan falls into the scheme of work which falls into the curriculum. |

Where I work we have three documents.
The Scheme of Work is the live document which outlines what you are going to teach each week. It contains the date, topic name, main activities, curriculum references, resources. It can be as sketchy or as detailed as you like.
The lesson plan contains information about the group, the objectives of the particular lesson, timing of activities, activities, rationale for activities, differentiation, curriculum referencing, resources, means of assessment, reflection and notes for next session.
The record of work is a brief note as to what was actually covered.
We also work from the Core Curriculum which details what needs to be covered in the course and has suggestions of how to cover them.
Hope this helps. |

| hi, yes I would agree with all mentioned above and a quick summary as to how to remember what each document is for syllabus - what we are going to teach (use the curriculum), scheme of work - when are we going to teach ( detailed plan for each week what is to be taught and when and lastly a lesson plan - how we are going to teach it, ( consists of methods, time, objectives, resources etc Hope that's ok |
