Hi, can anyone tell me how to become a college teacher? What routes into the job did you guys take? I'm a third year psychology bsc student on course for a solid 2:1.
Any help and advice welcome! I've wanted to be a college teacher for years now
Many thanks |

| You need to take the PTLLS course, available at most colleges. It's 30 hours and is for pre-service or in-service teachers. |

New qualifications for teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector were introduced from September 2007. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is the new minimum requirement for people who wish to teach in post-16 education. PTLLS is the first step to a full teacher qualification (QTLS).
Most colleges will take you on with that qualification and let you study with that establishment.
Go for it and best wishes! |

Om doing the PTLLS course and then will be doing the PGCE in september.
Have a look at your local colleges vacancies list and see if they take teaching staff on unqualified then put them through the qualifications. This is what the college im at does. ITs a great way to get into teaching. |
