I will start this thread off, so that the forum doesn't look so bare!! I'm Sharon - the founder of PCET Network. I have taught Keyskills, Basic Skills & ESOL in Training Providers, Prisons and FE Colleges! I'm 30 something and I currently live "Up North!" It would be great to find out a little bit about you all, so please use this thread to introduce yourself!

I'm Jay, Technical Bod for the PCET Network and responsible for all matters technical! I am not a teacher, so please do not ask me anything "teacherish", as I will no doubt be of little use. However I am a "Techie", so feel free to tell me your IT woes!!!

I'm Sue Price, Deputy Education Manager at a male prison in Surrey. I'm just 50 (just 50) and started life as a Medical Secretary. Completed a JEB Teaching Diploma whilst my children were growing up and, after 3 years training with a medical database provider, joined Prison Education in April 2005. I teach IT - Introduction, Clait and Clait Plus and have been known to teach Numeracy Entry although not with any great confidence. Have currently completed a CertEd and have carried on with the BA.

Hi all. I'm Gill and I currently teach ESOL and Basic Skills. I am new to teaching FE - 6 months now - and I am finding motivating and keeping the attention of the students quite hard. (They seem to miss the previous tutor a lot and they enjoy letting me know it!) Any advice or words of wisdom would be gratefully received!

Hi All, I'm Ann and have been teaching in FE since 1984. I love teaching and currently deliver the teacher/training programmes in a college in East Yorkshire. I have published two text books for new teachers (a little plug there!) which have received great reviews. I also work as a consultant to City & Guilds and have been involved in the development of the new teaching qualifications for the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Hello
I'm Louise and currently work for the LEA training school staff in the use of their management information systems. I'm starting the 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector course on Tuesday evening
Hopefully I'll move onto the 7304 in January and then bridge across to the second year of the Cert Ed course.
... wish me luck!!

Hi Everyone, I'm Tracy & I'm in my 1st yr of the PGCE. I deliver training on a MIS for a Youth Service and have recently co-tutored part of an NVQ 3 in Youth & Community studies - part time, whilst i put my hand to being an Instructor for 2 1/2 yrs part time at a school with secondary children expelled from school. I delivered the AQA Entry Level Certificate & single AQA Units in ICT. I hope to learn and teach in a college environment in the near future to stretch my experience and skills.

I have delivered initial training & support to volunteers mentoring young people involved in the Youth Justice System too.

I'm hoping I can get some tips to help me with my PGCE PCET assignments & see if i can contribute anything to this group along the way. Embarassed Wink Very Happy
